Every Dog is unique and it is sometimes hard to know and determine the exact cause of food intolerance or dog food allergies because many other problems can also cause similar symptoms such as environment, disease, flea and insect bite, parasite, yeast or bacterial infections etc. Dog can have allergy from difference type of foods. There are many research which proven that chicken, beef and eggs can cause more reaction than other types of food. Various proteins can also create problems for certain type of dogs.

If you find out that your dog is suffering from food poisoning or having sign of food allergy symptoms from the food that was given to them earlier then you should remove the offending food immediately and carefully observe what is happening to your dog when they eat certain types of food.

Many commercial foods contains preservative which are also the cause of dog food allergies and can lead to even worst problems such as liver problems if commercial food is given for a long times.

As mentioned earlier that the allergy symptoms is quiet similar to other problems. These are the suffering signs and change in behaviour that can be clearly seen from external -> Itching, scratching, foot licking, biting other parts of the body.

Diagnosis

You should make sure that your dog allergy doesn't come from the following problems -> Atopy, flea or insect bite, intestinal problems due to parasite, yeast or bacterial infections etc.

There are other types of test that can be perform by veterinarians such as blood test -> radioallergosorbent (RAST), Enzyme-Linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA), intradermal skin testing can also help in the diagnosis but food trial testing is the only best way to accurately diagnose your dog food allergies symptoms.
